Beaujolais Nouveau is the traditional first release of the vintage, released on the third Thursday of November. The Gamay grapes are picked in early Autumn, and the first grapes are quickly made into the wine that celebrates the end of the harvest. It is a tradition that goes back to the 1800s.
Our Beaujolais Nouveau of choice for 2025 is from the wonderful Séléné, the winery of Sylvère Trichard, who grows grapes following biodynamic principles on a tiny plot just outside Blacé.
His vineyard features vines that are up to 80 years old, which produce fruit with a low yield but packed with flavour. Really juicy flavours of red and black cherries. Their regular Beaujolais is a natural, full-bodied wine, and we eagerly anticipate tasting their 2025 Nouveau.
