Logodaj Melnik 55

A single-varietal red from the Struma Valley in south-west Bulgaria, made from Early Melnik, the Melnik 55 clone of the indigenous Broadleaf Melnik grape, with 18 days' maceration and ageing in French oak. Dark ruby, it opens with ripe cherry, spice, a stony note and a touch of vanilla. The palate is velvety and fruit-led, with melted tannins, a medium-to-full body and a finish of cherry, nuts and chocolate. Serve with Old Farmdal, whose sweet, nutty depth picks up the wine's cherry and chocolate notes.
